AMTRAK TO PORTLAND
Ride Amtrak's Downeaster to Portland.
Amtrak operates the Downeaster passenger train service between Boston's North Station and the Portland Transportation Center. Remember that the train to Portland operates to and from North Station. All other Amtrak trains arrive and depart Boston at South Station.
Travel from Portland to Bangor.
To reach Bangor, transfer to Concord Coach at the Portland terminal. If your train arrives in the afternoon, you can stay overnight in Portland and continue north the next day. To make connections with Downeast Transportation in Bangor (Monday through Friday), catch the Concord Coach bus that departs Portland at 10:00 a.m.
Travel from Bangor to Bar Harbor.
Downeast Transportation departs the Bangor bus terminal for Bar Harbor year-round Monday through Friday at 1:50 p.m. This bus does not operate on weekends or on Monday holidays.

You can also try the Bar Harbor Shuttle. This is a private company that provides van service between Bangor transportation terminals and Bar Harbor.
Taxis are available at the bus terminal and rental cars are available at the nearby Bangor Airport.
